ACCLIMATISATION SOCIETY
HAWKE’S BAY BODY MEETS. PREPARING FOR DUCK SHOOTING. The monthly meeting of the H.B Acclimatisation Society was held last night when the shooting committee decided that there be an open season for pukeko for a fortnight during the next season with’a limit of five birds a day and that shooters be permitted a brace each of paradise ducks on the opening day iu the coming season. A suggestion by Mr. T. M. Laing that the season for duck shooting be extended for a month was not approved of by the meeting, as it was considered that this extension would bring the time too near the mating season. The Department of Internal Affairs advised that the provision in the Taupo trout fishifig regulations reserving an area at Waipahihi Point for fly fishing only would stand for this season. The secretary, Mr R. M. Chadwick, intimated that he had written to the department stating that the decision was greatly appreciated by the society as it was considered to be in the interest of all rdneemed His action was approved
