E.C. CUN CLUB SHOCT. SUTTON ROSE BOWL COMPETITION. Under the auspices of the Napier and East Coast Gun Club, the annual shoot for the A. G. Sutton Silver Rose Bowl, open to any shooter in Hawke's Bay, at the Monte Carlo grounds, attracted a good field. At tbe consent of the donor, the committee of the club, with the object ot encouraging novice shooters to compete, has altered the conditions of the bowl from 21 birds at 18 yards, to lo birds at handicap marks In conjunction with the same shoot, the second match of a series of three for the Walter Beck Cup, covering the best score over three nominated matches, was also held, and a series of trophies, presented by C. Louisson. J. • Neilson, Foreman’s, and Bert Cock, made up a very attractive shoot The scores were:—

With 14 breaks D M. Campbell won the match thus holding the bowl for 12 months, and taking C. Louisson's trophy for first prize. With 13 breaks each, Messrs R Carswell, J Whittle and R Crawford divided C. Louisson's Black and White second prize trophy. The third prize trophy, tor which Messrs T Durie. T Parke; and J. Mills tied, is to be decided on the first miss out in the next shoot Messrs D. M. Campbell and T. Dune, with 12 first barrels, each tied fo> Bert Cock s D.C.L gold medai and in the shoot-off D. M Campbell won. J. Neilson's trophy for best novice. 14 yards and under, was shot off foi between J Whittle and R. Crawford, who both bad 13 breaks. R. Crawford proving the winner Eighteeen shooters entered in the open sweepstake, taking any mark they pleased each round. Messrs 1 Parker, R Carswell, ami H Horsnoil with six breaks each, divided Messrs C. Holt T Durie, J. Mills, and J Whittle got five breaks and others secured four birds and less To finish the afternoon one ot the ever-popular clay quail drives was put on, with seven birds There were 23 entries. D. M Campbell, whose luck was with him all the afternoon secured six birds and first prize Messrs T Parkei A Stead, J Mills, with five breaks shot off for second and third money, Stead coming second and Mills third Only two shooters got four breaks. Messrs T V. Mornn and H. Horsnell.
