H.B. HOSPITAL BOARD

YESTERDAY’S MONTHLY MEETING. FINANCIAL MATTERS AND REPORT. The monthly meeting of the Hawke’s Bay Hospital Board was held at the Napier Hospital yesterday. Present: Messrs C. O. Morse (chairman), H. Hill, A. E. Bedford. F. Logan, H. V. Hoadley, S. J. McKee, C. H. Williams, and Dr. 11. M. Wilson. Monthly vouchers totalling £2541 5s 6d were passed for payment, while intermediate payments amounting to £2354 19s 3d were confirmed. Tho monthly balance statement, showing a credit balance of £5363 16s Bd, was approved. Fees totalling £2509 16s 4d were written off.

The matron (Miss R. McDonald) reported as follows:—“Staff Nurses Mackenzie and McConnell, who have completed four years of training, wish to be relieved of their duties at the enr of December. I would recommend that Charge Nurses Bruce, Read, and Weilock be appointed Sisters. Sister Spengley, ChargeNuise Weilock. Nurses Darvall. and Elder are on holiday leave. Eight nurses have recently passed the examination in invalid cookery, held at the Technical College. Probationers, Bolton, Durrant, Hamfll, Little, Lowe, and Paterson have commenced a course of instruction in elementary nursing in the preliminary school, under the Tutor Sister. This is the first class of its kind tr. be held in this hospital, and we are looking forward Io its proving beneficial not only to the probationers themselves but to the patients.. In the hospitals in which a preliminary school has been established, the results are proving < tisfactory.” 1; following statistics were submitted:— McHardy Maternity Home: Patients admitted during the month. 15; babies born during the month, 16; attendances at ante-natal clinic, 40; patients in the home on 30th Novem her, 8; babies in the home on 30th November, 8.

Hastings Memorial Hospital; Patients admitted during the month, 11; babies born during the month. 12; attendances at. ante-natal clinic, 30; patients in hospital on November 30, 3; babies in hospital on November 30, 3.
