WEDDING

LAURENCE—FRYER. A pretty wedding of interest in Hawke’s Bay took place last night nt St. Luke’s Church, Havelock North, when Tui Lillian Fryer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Fryer, Havelock North, was married to Spencer Billopp Laurence, son of Mr. and Mrs. Effiingham D. Laurence, of “Billopp,” Cressy, Tasmania. Canon Maclean officiated.

The picturesque Havelock church had been beautifully decorated for the occasion, with lilies, greenery and pink belladonnas. Major Oldham played the wedding music, and also the hymns, “The Voice that Breath’d o'er Eden” and “How Welcome was the Call.”

The bride, who entered the church on the arm of her father, looked charming in a simple gown of ivory satin, made with a very long skirt slightly shorter in front. Long tight sleeves and a bodice cut to a low V, and finished with a collar and front of finest lace, were features of the pretty frock, the satin folds shimmering through a veil of beautiful old Limerick lace. A bouquet of roses and hot house flowers was carried.

Miss Doris Haggitt. and Miss Bay Fryer were bridesmaids. They wore dainty frocks of soft pink georgette, cut with three deep skirt flounces touching the ankles at the sides. Largo black picture hats, each trimmed with a pink rose, and black satin shoes, were also worn, and both bridesmaids carried bouquets of rosetinted carnations. Mr. Robert MacKenzie was besi man, and Mr. Sladen Fryer groomsman.

After the ceremony a number of guests were entertained by Mr. and Mrs. Fryer at the Ritz, where there were gay pink and mauve asters as decorations, and a large wedding bell. Mrs. Fryer received her guests in a silver-grey embossed crepe-de chine frock, and grey shoes, and she carried a beautiful bouquet. After tho usual toasts had been honoured, tho happy couple left by car for their wedding trip. Tho bride travelled in a frock of beige lace, with a beige crinoline hat turned up in front with pastel tint’ flowers on the brim. Shoes were worn to match the frock.
