JUST THE SAME!
It was Mr A. P. F. Chapman who tald the story to an interested little gathering shortly after his arrival in Sydney. The present English skipper is a good hand at spinning a yarn, as befits a 'man in hrs station of lite away from the cricket field. It ~p-pears pears that an undergraduate at Cam bridge was transgressing rules and regulations inasmuch as he was busily engaged one evening entertaining a young lady in his room. The visitor, incredible as it may seem, was Lis very own sister, but, all the same, her presence in the sacred precincts was irregular. Hence, when footsteps were suddenly heard outside, and a knock sounded on the door, he lost no time in hustling his sister into the shelter of a curtain and then opened the door. The newcomer proved to be an elderly man who was revisiting the scenes of his youth and was desirous of looking over the rooms which he had occupied in the nast. The younger man had no option but to consent, and the old chap, after looking round, remarked, reminis cent'ly. “Ah, yes, the same old room.” Then he strode to the window and gazing out, added, “And the same old view.” Then the tip of a neat shoe protruding beneath the curtain caught his eye. and he shook his head knowingly, “The same old game, too.” At this'the student stepped forward and, waving an arm towards the girl, stammered, “My sister, sir.” “Oh, yes,” the old chap smiled, comprehendingly, “the same old story.” SHEFFIELD SHIELD MATCH. limited Press Association—By Cable Copyright.)
