VICTIMISATION.

(To the Editor.) Sir, —I am most amused at Mr. W. J. Lyon’s effusion and frantic endeavour to drag a red-herring across the scent, in order to evade the charge of victimisation brought against the Labour party by J.S.H. I chance to know that J.S.H., whoever he mny be, has understated the position. Let us put the matter the other way—the way it was not. Let us suppose that a United—one of the “unnecessaries,” according to Mr. W. J. Lyon the two-yen r-old student of New Zealand politics—went to a Labour man and with certain adjectives—the value of which depend upon whether they are spoken to a friend or an opponent—said that the “boys were going down to a scab’s house, going to drag him out of bed and give him a ruddy hiding before his wife.” How the Labour party would then storm—how Mr. Lyon would dance a jig in Heietaunga street. But the truth is. Ibis is n certain mnn said, and mon standing by countenanced him. He mioht have gone on to say that they bad seen the manager of the works, whereat the bovcotted men were cm-idn-red, and “no mnre works for ‘scabs’ or then, the men a f nresaid. w<-"M know the reason whv.” This is beautiful in its classic simplicity. I th ! "k Mr. Lvon, who is being stuffed like a goose fnr pate do foi eras, will rnndilv see that with hollies supporting him it is hnrdlv wim for . T c H tn no'-’e him mnre de toile on which his followers mav base subtle attacks and physical assaults on thorn e-hn pro rimnly exorcising ti.c riobt nf a Britisher to do what, the,, fl’ink right. To t'’n«e who V vtw the Labour nnrtv .this is onh rn nrd’’nnrv occur-r-oco nnd the We hi strike and the deliberate boycotting of an innocent girl bv the strikers W'B ccwo tn the mind of those who. unlike Mr Lvon. are acquainted with the deliberate cold-blooded cruelty of the Labour party and its leaders. Mr. T.vnn himself is. I hope, all rijht—and as yet quite innocent, but people hare to

remember it is not Mr. Lyon that they are dealing with, but the “hardshell Labourites” who rule the Labour meetings and dictate the Labour policy.—l am, etc., ANOTHER RICHMOND. Hastings. 30/11/28.
