A claim for £2OO was brought in the Warden’s Court at Greymouth yesterday before Mr W. Meldrum, Warden, and five assessors by Mrs Mary Tennant, of Blackball, against the Blackball Coal Company, on account of the death of her husband Duncan Tennant, as the result of injuries received while working in de fendant's mine, on October 9, 1927. The proceedings were not brought under the Workers’ Compensation Act. but under section 147 of the Coal Mines Act. After hearing the evidence the Warden gave judgment for the defendants.
