INTER-COLONIAL TRADE
IMPROVED STEAMER SERVICES. [Australian and N.Z. Press Asaa.} (Received 8, 10.45 a.m.) Hobart, August 8. The re-establishment of the former cargo and passenger service between Tasmania and New Zealand is announced. A cargo steamer wil] in future call at Hobart from New Zealand every six weeks instead of three months, which is likely to result in a considerably greater volume of trade in Tasmanian timber with New Zealand. Distinct improvement in passenger facilities is anticipated ■ mid the Tasmanan Government .nduce the Commonwealth Government to grant exemption from the Navigation Act to New Zealand vessels trading between Melbourne and Hobart and vice versa. Efforts in this direction are being made both at Hobart and Melbourne.
