FAREWELL AFTERNOONS.
Th© Hastings Women’s Community Club room was a fairy bower, and its accommodation was taxed to its utter capacity on the occasion of the farewell party to Mrs Barnsdale. the hostesses being Mesdames Hull, Shand. Harris, and Cuningham. A dainty afternoon tea was served in the tea room on tables arranged in the form of a horseshoe. The decorations were massed daffodils. Songs by Mesdames Hobbs. Foster. Budd, and Miller added to the pleasure of the afternoon. Among those present were Mesdames Hull, Johnstone, Hogg, Jackson, Beamish, Rowe. Wright. Brodie. Candv. Peddie, Miller. Baird, de Lisle. Curlett, Davis, Dinwiddie. Krogh. Simson. Sheppard, Fox, Comming, Day. McKenzie. Douglas. Small. Cunningham, Uren. McCaw, Gifford. Wedd, Stratton, O’Meara, Waterworth. Hobbs. Hallett • Mrs Hogg also gave an enjoyable afternoon for Mrs Barnsdale. The room was fragrant with violets and Daphne. Among those present were Mrs Jackson. Mrs Hull. Mrs O’Meara, Mrs Stratton, Mrs Miller, Mrs Small. Mrs Barnsdale. Mrs von Dadelszen. An interesting competition, the answer to which had to he told in flowers, was won by Mrs J. A. Miller.
Another afternoon was given by Mrs McCaw for Mrs Barnsdale. Among the guests were Mrs Cunningham, Miller. Shand. Davis. Budd. Hull, Sheppard, Gifford. Lawlor Brooke-Taylor. Douglas. Harris. Peddie, O’Meara, Stratton. Small, Wedd, Evans, Johnstone. Competitions and music were indulged in and a very enjoyable time was spent. Mrs Jackson. Tomoana road. wa s the hostess on Thursday for Mrs Barnsdale. The decorations were bowls of daffodils and anemones Mrs Jackson wore an equisite model of shimp pink georgette, inlet with "ORt embroidery. Amongst those present were Mesdames Hull. Clarke. Myers, .. Budd. Baird. Commin. O’Meara. Stratton. Cumming, Small. Misses Evans, Foster, Miller, and others. The competition was won by Mrs O’Meara. On Monday evening Mrs W. P. Johnstone gave a delightful children’s party for little Allan Barnsdale. Games and races were plaved. Streamers and balloons made the parb- a gay one. A number of adults and a great number of children had a thoroughly enjoyable evening.
