The 18th universal week of prayer, organised by the World’s Evangelical Alliance, began successfully in London. An official report show that the population of the Commonwealth at September 30 last totalled 6,076,432, whereof 3,104,821 were males and 2,971,611 females. In Tasmania and Victoria females predominated. The increase for the year was 118,512. New South Wales increased by 49,575, Victoria 26,571, Queensland 21,860, South Australia 15,807. Others States . show small increases. Since the 1921 census Australia’s population has increased by 6040,698, whereof 70 per cent, was excess of briths over deaths and 30 per cent excess of arrivals over departures. The increase representan aVrago rate of slightly above 2 per cent per annum.
