FIRES
(Per Press Asociation.) No accurate estimate of the damage caused by the Strand (Dunedin) Restaurant fire on Sunday has yet been made. The insurance on the building and contents was £13,975, this including the Misses Gallagher’s, ladies* outfitters, insurance. Patterson Bros., men’s outfitters, had £2200 on the stock and the damage is roughly £2200 The MisseA Gallagher’s stock is almost a total loss. The bakehouse of H. W. D. Rogers, storekeeper, Waiau, Canterbury, was destroyed by fire on Monday morning with the contents and stock of flour. A 9-roomed dwelling owned by Mrs Baker and situated at Learning-' ton, near Cambridge, was totally destroyed by fire at an early hour this morning. At the time the only occupants were Mrs Baker and two sons. The insurances are £100(5 on the building and £3OOO on the contents in the State Fire Office. The brigade saved the garage and outbuildings.
