MANCHESTER UNITY ODDFELLOWS.

HASTINGS LODGE. The adjourned meeting of the Hastings Lodge of Manchester Unity Oddfellows was resumed on Thursday last at the Oddfellows’ Hall., Sister* M. J. Stanley, N.G., presiding over an attendance of 80 members. The officers and a large number of members of the Tavistock (Waipukurau), Abbotsford (Waipawa), and Ruahine (Tikokino) lodges of the M.U. paid an official visit and were received with honours. The Tavistock Lodge, winners of the Alward Ritual Shield, carried oiit the initiation ceremony, and by their excellent interpretation convinced those present that they deserved their win. Bros. Johnston. Cook, Renner and Bruhn filled the major positions and the White degree was given by Bro. Johnston. P.G. Bro. T. F. Scott was presented with a Purple degree certificate by P.D.G.M. Bro. Love. The financial secretaiy, P.G. Bro. P. J. S. George, was granted leave of absence from the next meeting to enable him to attend the conference of the New Zealand branch of the Unity at Auckland, where he Will act as' one of the district delegates. The visiting lodges, in returning thanks fo r hospitality shown, congratu- : lated the Hastings lodge on their great increase in membership and their sound financial position. The visitors were entertained at supper and afterwards dancing was indulged in. Bros. Ferbrache and Painter supplying the music.
