Mr. W. H. Russell is retiring on superannuation Horn me Jtiansaru scan. Mr. Russell joined me government services as a cadet in the Education Department in 1661. After serving lor some time m that Department and also as a Ministerial secretary, he was appointed In 1893 to the Hansard staff. Air. Russell has completed 45 years service, and his retirement will take effect on June 30th. During 1925 Wellington dealt with 3,947 vessels of a gross tonnage of 3,197,673 tons, against Auckland 2,956 vessels of 2,376,778 tons, Lyttelton, 1560 vessels of 1,918,777 tons, Dunedin, 554 vessels of 1,002,085 tons, states the annual report of the Wellington Chamber of Commerce. Wellington’s central position again earns for itself the first place in the Dominion for exports, the report adds, and it comes second for imports. For tonnage of cargo handled last year Wellington was second with 1,685,948 tons (of which 344,311 tons were transhipments). Auckland being first with 1,875.606 tons.
