ILLEGAL POSSESSION OF OPIUM.
SUSPECT CONVICTED. Wellington, March 31. Michael Quinlan, aged 38, suspected for some time of being an opium dealer, was seen last night entering a Chinaman’s shop by a constable. He denied having any opium, but a search produced four tins in his pockets. Today Quinlan was fined £4O for being illegally in’possession of opium, in default six weeks’ imprisonment.
