HAVELOCK NORTH SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
The monthly meeting of the Havelock North School Committee was last evening. Present—Mr J. Heenan (chair- , man), Messrs W. J. Millar, F. W. Berry, R. Weatherley, R. Rutherfora, A. Webb and J. Duncan. The headmaster reported the present roll stood at 268, the average attendance for the past month being 257. Mr Nillson took up his duties as first assistant on March Ist. During the month the school wa.* visited by Nurse Hastie, of the Education Department’s medical staff. A number of repairs were suggested and these were left in the hands of the Visiting Committee, to attend to. The secretary reported being unable to furnish a balance-sheet of the recent picnic on account of not being able to get in all th e accounts. He stated the total amount collected for the picnic was £l7 16s sd. The balance-sheet would be ready shortly and would be placed in the “Tribune” agency window. It was moved as a recommendation to the incoming committee that the recipts of the fancy dress dance b e handed to the School Committee’s general funds.
