What Senior-Sergeant Barrett described as one of the worst eases he had had to deal with was before Mr Maunsell, S.M., to-day, when Leonard Farnworth (who did not appear) was charged with failing to comply with the terms of his pit.bation license. Defendant, for a breach of a maintenance order in rt*speet to his wife, some months ago was orderd to conic up for sentence when called upon, to report to the police monthly, and also to notify the police if ho left the district. Senior-Sergeant Barreti said he had not done so and his whereabouts were unknown. The Magistrate imposed a sentence of six months' imprisonment.
