NATIVE GIRL IN COURT.
ALLEGED ATTEMPTED SUICIDE. That she attempted to commit suicide by taking poison, on March 14tli. at Patangata was the charge laid against a Maori girl, Rangi Reti, at the Napier Magistrate’s Court before Mr. R. W\ Dyer, S.M. Accused, who was not represented, pleaded guilty and elected to be dealt with summarily. Senior-Sergeant Powell said that Constable O’Halloran, of Waipawa received a message that the accused had taken poison at Patangata nah. He went out accompanied by a doctor to the pah. where the girl was found lying on the floor in great agony. The doctor ordered her immediate removal to the hospital. Constable O'Halloran said that the girl had had domestic trouble and it had weighed on her mind. His Worship after admonishing the accused convicted and ordered her to come up for sentence when called upon on condition that she paid hospital and other expenses totalling £7 2/-, a
