RUGBY FOOTBALL.
ARMY BEATS AID FORCE. London, Mar. 27. In the inter-services Rugby tournament the Army beat the Air Force by 11 to nil, thus winning the championship.—(Reuter). MARIST OLD BOYS’ CLUB. The annual general meeting of the Marist Old Boys’ Rugby Football Club was held in Napier, Mr. J. AV. Callaghan presiding over a large attendance of supporters and players. The balance-sheet disclosed a. sound financial position. The election of officers resulted: — Patron, Air W. J. AlcGrath; president, Air. Al. Treston; chairman, Air. J. AV. Callaghan; management committee, Messrs H. Storkey, R. Gannaway, G. O’Connor, E. Oliver, J. Pearcey, L. Kyle, W. Stevens, T. Higgins, J. Afahoney, T. Brophy; delegates to H.8.R.U., Alessrs J. W. Callaghan and J. Alahony; club captain, Air. R. Le Quesne; hon. secretary, Mr. J. Dowling. Great enthusiasm was shown, and it was decided to enter four teams in the competition, viz., seniors, juniors, thirds, and fourths. Subscriptions were fixed as follow: — Seniors 7/6, junior 5/6, thirds 4/6, fourths 3/6. Thirty-three new members were proposed. Air. Al. Tresto-n generously donated gold medals for the best back and forward in the senior grade. The Rev. Father Murphy also donated gold medals for th e best back and forward in the fourth grade. Practices are to be commenced immediately. and arrangements were got under way for a team to visit Gisborne at Easter.
