The Old Talune

MAKES HER LAST VOYAGE. A USEFUL PURPOSE TO SERVE. This morning the well-known coastal steamer Talune, recently placed permanently out of commission, was towed to AVaikokopu, where she will be filled with metal and sunk to form a small breakwater to the wharf. < At present when there is a moderately rough sea, vessels are in clanger of breaking away from the wharf and causing damage. It is expected that the working days-at Waikokopu will be greatlv increased by the shelter to be provided by the sunken Talune. Mr. F. N. Thompson, resident engineer for Public Works, left Napier for Waikokopu this morning to supervise the operations.
