HOCKEY.
OPENING THE SEASON. LADIES’ TOURNEY. i The 1925 hockey season was opened r at Nelson Park, Napier, on Saturday, t when elevon ladies’ teams turned out ? under the auspices of the Napier Sub--1 association. The day was ideal for tho stick game, and keen contests were witnessed. Tho following teams competed:—Senior (teams consisting of six aside): Te Awa A, To Awa B, Technical O.G. A, Technical O.G. B, Napiet A, Napier B. Juniors (teams consisting of 11 players): Technical O.G. Te Awa, Te Lwera, Technical School A, lechnical School B. hollowing are the results:— 9 Seniors.—Te Awa A and Technical p O.G. A, 9 points each. These teams ' were easily the best on tho field and D sorno very fine play was witnessed. To .Kiva had slightly the best of the final game, but the Old Girls’ resistance s proved equal to the task of defending their goal, the result being a drawn ® game. Te Awa B were next with six points. . Juniors.—Three teams tied for first u place—namely, Technical 0.G., Te j uwera and 'lechnical School, six points u each; To Awa next with two points. ’ the three leading teams were easily ' the best in this section, and thenpoints being equal give a very fair indication ot their play.
