RISSINGTON.
(Own Correspondent). A very impressive little ceremony was performed on Anziac Day at the Rissington School. The children were mustered for th© purpose of hoisting and saluting tho flagShort addresses were given by Miss Spencer and Mr Algar. Mr Cooksey gave a vivid recital of the Gallipoli campaign.
The householders meeting was held in tho school on Monday night. It was tho largest and most interesting meeting for at least ten years, there being twelve nominations for the new committee.
Mr J. Howell took the chair and a vote of thanks was passed to the retiring committee and several matters of business were discussed. Great interest was displayed in the election, the result being Miss Spencer (top of the pod), Messrs G. Cockburn. Algar. Simpson and Hughes.
Tho first meeting by the Rissington Dramatic Club was given b.y the Ra« whiti Circle on Wednesday night. There was a much larger attendance than was expected and considerable interest was taken throughout the performance. The play “Mrs Davenport” was read. Hie following members taking part and displaying much talent and dramatic art: Mrs Herd, Miss Herd, Miss H. Herd, Messrs F. Kerr, Carlyon. and Herd Snr. A hearty vote of thanks was passed after the reading and Mr. Herd then gave a greatly appreciated cornet solo and Miss Herd sang “Danny Boy.” A light supper was then served.
The committee met later and important business matters were discussed. The committee is very grateful for tho interest which is being talfen in the Club and hopes to be able to continue tho readings throughout the winter. The next reading, given by No. 2 Circle, will take place on Wednesday, 13th inst.
