On Thursday next nominations have to be made for the Woodville meeting, and on Friday first-day acceptances for both the Feilding and the Takapuna Spring Meetings, and final payments for the Feilding Stakes and first forfeits for the Oroua (Feilding) Stakes, Feilding handicaps should appear on Monday next. Latest newspaper reports to hand state that W. Scobie. who was injured at Riccarton on Wednesday, is still an inmate of the Hospital. His condition remains much the same., although it is not considered to be serious. Hector Gray managed at last on Saturday to land Suggestion home as a winner, a success to which Mr. Bidwell’s horse was well entitled after running twice second on the earlier days of the meeting. Th© machine return would fall short of reimbursing those who had been following him through the fixture with a uniform investment each start. G. Murray Aynslev turned out four winners for Mr, C. G. Dalgety at the Canterbury Jockey Club’s meeting. Limelight’s Metropolitan Handicap and Starmist’s Oaks represent two of the plums of the meeting, while Footfall has contributed two minor events to the stable record.

Degage seems to have been very generally sorted out for the Seymour Handicap on Saturday, for despite the big field, the dividend she paid was a very scanty one. Whariti who was regarded locally as a good thing for the Suburban Handicap on Saturday, Just failed to bring her supporters a dividend, being beaten into the barren third place. So far we are without any detailed description of Saturday’s race for the G. G. Stead Gold Cup, so that it is not known here whether Gold Light Ayon easily or not. In any event, the time given. 2.4 shows that there could not have been any loitering on the 1} mile journey. It has only one© been bettered in this race, and that was when Sir George Clifford’sc Autumnus colt Winning Hit .won three years ago, covering th© distance in 2.3' 1-5. Last year Raazle Dazzle took one-fifth of a second longer than did her half-sister on Saturday. The going seems to have been getting faster each day as the C.J.C meeting progressed, and on Saturday Royal Blood was able to carry his 9.8 to the end of the five furlongs in the Electric Handicap in time that was just a tick over the Australasian record put up by Machine Gun, under 11.5, on the same course just twenty years ago. This performance would suggest that it was probably a lucky thing for Peneus and his friends that Royal Blood missed his acceptance for the Stewards’ Handicap. Mr D. Barry’s mare Riston has foaled a filly to Danilof. Ristori is the dam of Matinee, who won the Great Northern Guineas in 1922. Mr A. Alexander’s mare Silver Link, conqueror of Amythas over six furlongs in the Manawatu Stakes, and the winner of numerous other races, has this year foaled a colt to the Spearmint horse Catmint. Silver Link visits the recent importation Chief Ruler. Vivirini, another of th© same owner’s mares has produced a filly to Danilof. Racehorses do not appear to have been in great demand at.the auction sale held in Christchurch last week, most of the lots being passed in. Among sales actually effected was the 3-year-old Gay Lad —Nantuille gelding Revel, bought by Mr O. R. Stanfield, Dannevirke, for 105 guineas.
