APPOINTMENTS DECLINED.
TEACHERS AND POSITIONS
Reporting to tlie Hawke's Bay Education Board to-day. the secretary (Mr. W. L. Dunn) said: “I have pointed out to the board on previous occasions the very great inconvenience and delay caused by teachers applying for positions, and then, a short time afterwards, even a week in some cases, declining to accept. There have been several cases since the last meeting of the board, all of which have been most unsatisfactory. In fact, the frequency of these occurrences is becoming so exasperating that it will be necessary for the board to take some drastic action in the interests of the schools and the children. I have obtained legal advice on th© matter, and, should another case arise where no satisfactory explanation can be given, I propose recommending the board to ta’k© legal action. ’ ’ - ‘'
