Greevey ajid Keenan were executed at Mullingar for participating in an armed raid on a bank. O’Rourke was executed at Dublin. William Healy was executed at Cork for conspiring to murder Commandant Scott on the occasion of th© attempt to burn Mrs. Powell’s house. The remaining three—James Parle, John Crean, and Patrick Higgins were executed at Wexford.

Four prisoners were executed at Drumboe Castle. It is stated that while facing the firing squad they shouted “Up with the Republic!”— and N.Z.) Free Staters searching a disused loft at Cork, over shipping offices, found four canvas lifebelts containing 2000 rounds of machine-gun ammunition. One thousand rounds wer© found on board the steamer Ardmore.—(A. and N.Z.)

PLOT AGAINST BRITISH STATES- ' MEN. ALLEGED REPUBLICAN CONSPIRACY. ( London, March 14. Th© “Daily Sketch” publishes details of an alleged Republican plot to murder many well-known people, including Mr. Bonar Law, Mr. Lloyd George. Sir Hamar Greenwood. Colonel Gretton, Mr. Rupert Gwynne, and Mr. Ronald McNeill. Th© organisation includes many women 'who secured employment in the houses of the intended victims and have been able to supply th© so-called officer commanding in Britain with details of their lives? The Carlton Club was specially picketed day and night and habits of many members studied. Plans were completed whereby strife would be stirred up in various towns.—(A. and N. Z<) THE BRITISH ZONE. (Received 15, 1.55 p.m.) London, March 14. The Government made representations to France in regard to the difficulties in Rhineland. The French Government was most sympathetic and has given assurances that steps will be taken to eliminate the obstacles as far as possible.—(Router.)

THE NORTHERN PARLIAMENT. CHANGES IN EDUCATION SYSTEM

A Bill has been introduced in the Northern Parliament revolutionising the education system in vogue for the past 70 years. The National Board will be abolished under the Bill, which makes County Councils in counties and boroughs the education authority, which will strike the education rate, a thing hitherto unknown in Ireland. The Government will pay the teachers’ salaries and the schools will be maintained by rates.

Provision is made fo<. denominational instruction after school hours. Provision has also been made for medical treatment' of children and I ceding necessitious ones.—(A. and N.Z.)
