STOCK EXCHANGES. Dunedin, Aug. 23. Sale on ’Change: National Insurance 64/-. Auckland, Aug. 23. Sales on ’Change: Waihi, 27/9; Union Oil, 28/6. Reported sales; National Bank, £5 19/4; Huddart Parker, £2 12/3. WOOL, SHEEPSKINS AND HIDES SALE. Timaru, Aug. 23. The South Canterbury wool brokers held a sale of wool, sheepskins and hides to-day to a full bench of buyers representative of the whole of the South Island, and Wellington buyers were also present. The sale throughout did not show the keenness of recent sales here. The wool offerings were mainly crutchings, a fair proportion of which were passed. The sale reflected the drop in values on the London market, but the prices realised were much in advance of last season’s. Following is a summary:— Half bred crutchings, 6|d to 7 l-8d; three-quarterbred do. 4|d to 6d; crossbred do., 4|d to 5Jd; locks, Id to 3d. About 17,000 skins came forward and the prices for all grades were par to 1-Jd lower than last sale. Seventeen thousand hides were offered and met fair demand. Heavy and stout were dull of sale on a par with sales in other centres. Horse hair realised to 2/11. LONDON PRODUCE MARKETS. The Bank of New Zealand have received the following advice from London under date 18th instant: — Butter.—Firm. 206 s to 210 s per cwt. Cheese. —Firm. Coloured 86s per cwt, white 925. Frozen meat. —No alteration in prices of mutton and lamb. Market quiet, but firm, supplies being sufficient to meet demand. Beef prices unchanged; I fair demand for prime qualities. Supplies Argentine chilled are shorter. STORTFORI) LODGE STOCK SALE.

At the Stortford Lodge sale yesterday there was a good yarding of cattle and a small yarding of sheep offered to a good attendance of the public. Practically all stock changed hands under the hammeer. Prices ranged as follows:—Fat cows to £5 10/-, 4-year bullocks (good quality) £5 10/-, 3-year steers £4 12/6, 2-year steers £3 14/-, empty 2-year heifers £3 1/-, springing dairy cows (dull market) £5 to £B, fat wethers (good) 25/9, fat ewes 18/9. Store sheep were conspicuous by their absence.
