OVERSEER’S REPORT

Reporting to the Napier Borough Council the borough overseer (Mr. T. Dix) states: — 1 have fully gone into the matter of tramway extension aud reconstruction of the above street from top of Dickens street to the town side of the railway crossing and have to submit the following estimate for my portion of the work which comprises the following:—(1) Excavating track and preparing foundation bed for sleepers; (2) lowering crown of road, regrading road and removing spoil; (3) putting new foundations and generally reconstructing road which will be finished off with 3-inch coat of asphalt; (4) curbing and channelling and attention to footpaths. ESTIMATE. Removing spoil, 5000 yards, £l,250; metalling, £2,500; rolling, £150; asphalting, £3,465; contingencies, £150; total £7.515. _
