ENDS IN MANSLAUGHTER CHARGE.

Christchurch, March 18

Robert Dasler, labourer, of Sydenham, was arrested to-day on a charge of the manslaughter of Edward Samuel Darrell, who died in the Christchurch Hospital on March 13th. At the inquest on Darrell early in the week it transpired that the deceased was found lying at the back of the Opera House on the evening of March 6th. He was arrested for drunkenness, but was subsequently admitted to the Christchurch Hospital. There he complained that he had fallen and hurt his head. Prior to arrest Dasler had stated to the police that he and the deceased had an altercation on the afternoon of March 6th, after which blows were struck.
