“BING BOYS ON BROADWAY.”
BIG SUCCESS AT NAPIER. The J. C. Williamson Company staged the “Bing Boys on Broadway” in the Municipal Theatre, Napier, last night, the theatre being packed with a delighted and enthusiastic audience. The “Bing Boys on Broadway” is easily ahead of “The Passing Show,” giving the company bigger scope to display their talents. From the rise of the curtain the large audience were kept in an ocstacy of delight, the applause being continual and hearty. The dressing was gorgeous and the lighting effects brilliant, to say nothing of the sterling acting and singing of the principals, whilst the chorus was also excellent. That brilliant artiste. Miss Jennie Hartlev, charmed the audience with her delightful acting, patter and singing, and fairly captured the hearts of all present. She richly deserved the applause bestowed on her on her every appearance. Her manner, stage appearance and charui of persona.ity carried the audience away. Miss Hart.ey. was also the recipient of a beautiful floral tribute. Another dehghttul performance was that of Maggie Dickenson, whose dancing in conjunction with Mr. Y’ates was one of the features of the evening’s performance. Mr. Fhii Smith, another old favourite, kept the audience in screams of laughter, his witticisms being wholesome and clever. Indeed, the whole company acquitted themselves more than creditably, and it was with feelings of regret when the curtain fell, so satisfied were the audience. The revue is being produced in Hastings to-night and patrons can he sure of witnessing a sterling performance.
