A DISTURBER OF THE PEACE

The United States has sent two notes to Bolivia asking it to cease disturbing the peace in South America as a result .of recent antiPeruvian manifestations at Lapaz. These manifestations anve out of tne Tacna-Arica dispute. —(A. and N.Z.) Mr. Polk asked the Chilian Ambassador to urge his Government to use the friendliest influence to, reconciliate Peru and Bolivia. The State Department sent a third note to Peru and Bolivia asking them to compose, their difference. A despatch from Lama states that Bolivia expressed regrets to the Peruvjian Minister for the Lapaz incident. —(A. and N.Z.)
