Messrs. Ernest and Gordon M ali, Railway road, left Hastings yesterday with exhibits for the Dannevirke show. At the sale of produce in connection with the harvest thanksgiving held in the Methodist Church, Greenmeadows, on Monday evening, a basket of apnles was sold byf “Dutch auction” on behalf of the Taradale Wounded Soldiers’ Fund, and fetched the sum of £3 10/-. A meeting of the Hastings branch of the N.Z/ Farmers’ Union was called for 3.30 this afternoon to consider the following business : —(1). Oversea shipping and freights and the formation of a producers’ shipping company; (2), Election of, dele-' gate to attend experimental farms conference on Friday; (3), Mr. G. Ebbett’s notice of motion, that the Hastings branch of the Farmers’ Union take into consideration the question of the oversight and supervision of the farms of those called up for militarv service.
