THE GERMAN BREAKDOWN.
KAISER CANNOT CO-OPERATE WITH TINO.
[AUSTRALIAN AND N.Z. CABLE ASSN.]
London, Feb
Mr Ward Price (the “Daily Mail’s” correspondent, writing from Salonika, says that the Provisional Government has received information that the Kaiser has sent a significant message to King Constantine, telling him that Germany cannot cooperate or come to Constantine’s aid against the Allies in Macedonia. He concludes: “Alll ask of you now is that you shall keep the throne.”
Mr. Ward Price says that the message sounds like a dirge over Germany’s schemes which were undoubtedly active a few weeks ago for making an attempt in co-operation with the Greeks to clear the Balkans of the Allies. It also explains the facility wherewith King Constantine sent troops to the Peloponnesus. It is evident that- Germany contemplates intriguing in Greece arter the war in the belief that the long indented line and a position at the very gates of Egypt may bo of immense strategic value. It is the business of the Venezelists to counter such plans.
