RAILWAYMAN MUTILATED

Wellington, Feb.. 4. Robert Watson, aged 18, a railway 7 clerk, while attempting to board a train which was drawing into Petone station this morning, slipped and fell on to the permanent way. One of the wheels passed over his left leg, severing it at the knee. DRAGGED BY A HORSE. Ashburton, Feb. 5. William Harry Mayson, aged 14, was grazing a horse in Albert street yesterday afternoon with the reins tied round his waist. The horse was startled by a motor car,, and the boy was dragged half a mile. He died short 1 y after being taken home.
