WAIPUKURAU COUNTY COUNCIL.

(Own Correspondent). The monthly meeting of the above Council was held in the Chambers on Saturday forenoon. There were present: Mr. J. Donald, chairman; Crs. A. F. Cook, W. Joll, A. Lavery, J. D. Luckie and A C. Russell. The County treasurer, Mr. J. W. Elliott, and the overseer, Mi. A. McKay were also in attendance. The Rotorua Chamber of Commerce desired support to its proposal that the Government should utilise prison labour on road works. —The Council will support the employing of prison labour on main arterial roads. The overseer’s report was adopted. The necessity of improving two corners on the lower Gorge road was discussed, and it was resolved to have the worst one attended to. Accounts amounting of £157 were passed for payment. _
