(Special to “ Tribune.”) Wellington, Oct. 31. The following Hawke’s Bay men and their next of kin are on the list issues last evenins :— CORRECTION. Previously Reported Missing, Believed Wounded, now Reported Killed in Action (September 15). Acting Lance-Corporal Roy A. E. Skelton (L. Hammond, Railway, Whakatu, stepfather). WOUNDED. Lieutenant Wm. Henry Jones (Mrs. J. AV. Phillips George Dawe, Napie’s mother). SOME PERSONAL NOTES. Mr. Robert McCarthy, of Wall road, Hastings, received a cable on October 27th, stating that his son, Rifleman John S. McCarthy, had been removed from the seriously ill list. Yesterday Mr. McCarthy received another cable informing him that his son was seriously ill in the University AA r ar Hospital, Southhampton. In reply to a cable sent by Mr. F. E. Barley, assistant secretary of the Hastings Y.M.C.A., to the Headquarters in London, asking for information in reference to John Perress, son of Mr. and Mrs. Perress, Tomoana, who was wounded in France on September 28th, a message has been cabled that he is in the General Hospital, AA 7 alton-on-Thames, suffering from gunshot wound in arm and thigh, not serious, and is progressing favourably. Mr. Barley will be pleased to make similar enquiry for those who are experiencing difficulty in tracing their boys or relatives after receiving the news that they have been wounded and where the name of the hospital is not mentioned.

ABYSSINIAN CIVIL WAR. GOVERNMENT FORCES WIN A BATTLE. (Received 31, 12.25 p.m.) London, Oct. 30. The “Daily Telegraph” says the British Minister at Abyssinia announces a big battle twenty-five miles from Adisobeba resulted in complete victory for . the Government forces. Rasini Knail, father of Ledjjesu, the . Emperor, has been taken prisoner. Ledjjesu is believed to be among the tribes of the Somali on the Abyssinia frontier.

H.B. WAR RELIEF ASSOCIATION

MONTHLY MEETING. The Hawke’s Bay AA T ar Relief Association met yesterday afternoon. Present: Messrs. T. Mason Chambers (chairman), A. Es Ransom, J. Harding, L. McKay, F. Logan and AV. Shrimpton. SECRETARY’S STATEMENT. The secretary (Mr . Russell) submitted the following statement: — Bank balance (per pass book) £5559 6/5. Since last meeting the folowing contributions have been received :—

Au application from the Ngamoko Patriotic Society for affi iation with the association was approved. A letter was received from Mr. J. S. McLeod urging the necessity for the exercise of care in administering the Wounded Soldiers’ Fund, as far greater demands would probably be made upon it at a later date. This letter was supported by a resolution from the Hastings Society. t _ A letter was received from Mr. M . T. McGrath, outlining a scheme for supplying to soldier settlers. Mr. Ransom said the scheme did not appeal to him so far as the association was concerned. —Mr. McKay said that at the last ba lot there wore only nine men who did not have sufficient capital, and Mr. Donnelly had assisted those.— Mr. Ransom said the Land Board supplied stock, and Mr. McGrath’s proposal was beyond the work of the association. —The chairman and . Mr. Harding expressed their appreciation of the good motives that had actuated Mr. McGrath. —Writer to be thanked.
