At the wool sales there was a small offering of crossbreds, prices hardening and a miscellaneous selection of merinos Good scoureds were slightly dearer. Record prices were paid in Britain:—Peterborough 74/-. advancing 6- during the week ; Cambridge ,75 -; Canterbury 76/-. i The quantity of wheat and flour afloat for the United Kingdom is 2.435.000 quarters, and for the Continent 2.915,000. Atlantic shipments are 191,G(K» and Pacific nil. The total quantity afloat for Europe is 780,000 quarters, including Russia 30,000, India 78,000. Argentina 50,000 and Australasia 12,000. ! HASTINGS MARKETS.

Messrs. Hoadley, Son and Stewart, Ltd., report the usual attendance at their weekly mart sale held on Saturday. There was a good entry of pigs, and current prices were well maintained. We quote: 3 slips at 24/-, 3 at 24/6, 4 at 23/-, 1 26/-, 5 at 22/6, 2 at 21/6, 1 23/-, 3 at 20/-; one sold on behalf of Mr. R, Wilkinson for the Red Cross Fund realised £2 10/-: 6 weaners at 18/-, 7 at 20/-, 1 16/-, oaconer £2 6/-, ditto £1 16.-. Poultry: Hens 1/10 to 2/8 each, hen and chickens 11/-, ditto 9/-, setting I.R. ducks 2/6 to 3/1. A quantity of produce and sundries were disposed of at satisfactory prices. ’ Beard, Bullen and Co. report the following re their Saturday market sale. We offered U good yarding of dairy stock on Saturday last which sold' as follows: —1 empty Jersey cow £l.l 17/6, 1 empty cow £8 5/-, 1 Holstein cow (recent calver) £l3 15/-, 1 do £lO 17/6, 1 Shorthorn heifer (springing) £lO 2/6, 1 do £9 5/-, 1 do £lO 3/-, 1 Jersey cow (springing) £9 15/-, 1 Jersey heifer (due ih December) £9 10-/-, 1 Shorthorn cow in profit £9 5/-, 1 cow in profit £8 17/6. We also offered a good penning of pigs, mostly porkers, up to 8d per lb. live weight being obtained. The following sales were effected: 3 porkers at 35.-, 2 at 41/-, 3 at 33/6, 3 at 32/6, 2 at 31/6, 4 at 38/-, 5 weaners at 18/6, I at. 15./-, 3at 17/9, 4at 19/3. Large consignments of poultry came to hand, bidding being brisk and prices rerv satisfactory. Fat table hens made up to 8/4, light sorts 5/- to 6/6, cockerels up to 10/8 for heavy, light sorts 4/4 to 6/-. half-grown W.L. cockerels 2/10 to 4/-, P.B. hens 5/6 to 9/4, ducks 5/- to 10'6, all at per pair. Hens with broods 10/- to Ip/-. Apples are scarce. Good dessert rnade up to 5/-, others 2/6 to 4/-, all per half-case. Prime ' table potatoes realised 13,/- cwt, sack lots 14/- to 22/6, seed 12/- to 15/- for prime, others hard to quit at 5/- to 8/per sack. Bran 8/6, pollard 16/6, barley 13/- to 14/6, maize (cobs) 8/- to 9/6 cack, wheat 19/6 to 22/- per 2001 b. sack. We sold horse, gig and harness £l2 15/-, 1 gig £ll, 1 spring cart £6. Bay ttiare £9 5/-, 1 packer £1 5/-. Very satisfactory prices were obtained for a large quantity outside sundries and dairy utensils, implements and harness. Beard, Bullen and Co. report holding two most successful clearing sales through the week on account Mr. W. H. Cook and Mr. John Brien, at each of which very big prices were obtained for every lot offered, bidding being very lively at' both sales.
