FATAL FIRE.

LITTLE GIRL BURNT TO DEATH Gisborne, Oct. 27. The residence of AA r illiam Gbdye at Patutahi was destroyed by fire last evening and a child of three .years old burnt to death. The little girl was put to bed by her sister, aged 9 years, who left a lighted candle on the dressing table. The, mother, who was deaf, was with the other children in the back part of the house. She subsequently discovered the house-was aflame and made several attempts to rescue the child but’ was unsuccessful. Mrs. Gedye was badly burned about the head.
