Beecham. A. E. Renouf, W. McCullough, J. Gleadow, R. C. Wilkinson, A. H. Wilson, J. P. Thomson, A. G. Saxbv, J. ■ Scheele. H. F. Butcher, J. T. Cato, , J. W. Cargill, J. A. L. Hay, H. V. Hoadlev, Charles Goddard, S. , Jowett, R. Holt, T. B. Ching, J. R. . Ross and W. A. Anmer. Mr. Cato was elected foreman. THE JUDGE’S CHARGE. His Honour, in his charge to tlm jury, referred to the fact that the criminal list was not. an extensive one. There were eight altogether, two of which werfe against property and, with the exception of one other, the remaining cases were of a sexual nature. The cases, his Honour remarked. were not difficult and not the worse type and he also pointed out t|iat so far he had not found it . necessary to inflict flogging.’ The cases should not. cause the jury any anxietv or trouble. COMMON JURY. The. Common Jury was then sworn in. several exemptions being allowed by his Honour the Judge, on account of business and physical disabilities. ALLEGED FORGERY. Whiri Kuka, upon a charge of forgery, was remanded for further presentation of the case. Mr. Dolan appeared for the defandant. ALLEGED CARNAL KNOWLEDGE. The jury found a true bill against Michael Johnston, who was charged with carnal knowledge. Mr. H. A. Cornford appeared for the Crown alnd Air. B. J. Dolan for the defence. The following jury was sworn in : — Messrs. A. Olliver, F. Simmonds, J. P. Kenny, J. K. Pasley, P. Hansard, J. S. Golding, J. Ta Black, G. Thornton, H. J. Lawrence, A. Giffin, R. Crerar, and T. James. By request of counsel all witnesses and the public were ordered oub of court. The taking of evidence if as con ~ tinned up to 1 p.m. but it was not such as to be interesting to the public. The case is proceeding as we go to press.
