The baffling character of the wind dining the afternoon made it difficult for main of the riflemen to get on to tne bulls eye. though some excellent shooting was done? At the 900 yards’ range Carter, of Nelson, was the only scorer of a possible, but his shoruei range score discounted his match total. He only scored 38 at 800

Cheeseman (Tuamilna), Bruce (New Plymouth) and (1c Awamutu). Carter’s possible was a reiaarkable piece of si looting, though he had die advantage c.f uie soft morning l light, and Alackay (Dunedin) also snowed line form. He missed with his sighter ana first business shot and ten put on eigm bull’s eyes in succession, ending up with a three. The Otago Match, 800 and 1000 yards, and a couple ol long-distance extra filled in the afternoon. At the 800 yards McC’ahnont (Opaki) got within cue ci the possible, and Batten (Auckland) 48. Forty-seven’s were put up by Shannon (Wellington), Yeo (Auckland), and Drcnnn (Wanganui) At the 1000 yards there were a couple of 47’s, Cuthbertson (Tuarnarina) and Smith (Kaponga) being top scorers at this figure.
