THE SOUDAN.
(Received April 13, 10.20 p.m.) LONDON, April 13.
Earl Cromer’s report on Soudan affairs for the past year states that the future of the Soudan, depends mainly on good administration, the increase of population, improved means of communication, cotton ' cultivation, and cheap fuel. He adds that it is desirable to encourage Egyptian immigration thither. Lord Cromer’s report on Egyptian affairs hints that the taxpayer has borne a large burden which other countries throw upon posterity, emphasising the large expenditure on irrigation.
