WOODVILLE.
[OWN CORRESPONDENT.] ' A meeting, qfc the gfiliei'al committee olj .the Wobdviite Central Agricultural and Pastoral Association was held in Woodville on Monday evening. Sir P. E. Perry, president, was in the. chair, and there was a fair attendance. It was decided to ask Mr P. Hunter to represent the association on the New Zealand Kennel Club; to obtain poultry pens from the Hawke’s Bay Poultry Association, and to ask Sir Mclntyre, of Dannei’ii'ke, to handicap the Woodchopplngi. Various billet afrahgemefils for snow day were adopted, and a list ot. stewards prepared.. . Some new members were, elected.. The secretary, of the. association draws special attention in its advertisement to the date for the closing of entries. By a singular coincidence the three Woodville branches of friendly societies held their quarterly meetings on three evenings running last week. They all seem to have been fairly successful, although friendly society matters are at rather a low ebb in Woodville. At the Oddfellows’ meeting a committee was set np to arrange tor entertaining the members of the District Meeting, when it assembles here in February. It is a long time since a District Meeting was held here, and it is intended to do the best that can be done for the visitors.
