HAWKE’S PAY JOCKEY CLUB.

Acceptances Tor events at the first day of the Hawke’s Bay Jockey Club’s summer meeting will close on Wednesday, 23rd instant.

WOODVILLE JOCKEY CLUB. The stewards of the Woodville Jockey Club met on Friday night (writes our correspondent). The balancesheet of the last meeting was presented and showed'a profit of £221 13s. A letter from the Bookmakers’ Association, asking to be allowed to ply their business on the course, was received, and no action taken. An application received from the caterer for, the last meeting for a refund of the amount paid by him, as he had made a loss on the affair, was not entertained, but his tender for the February meeting was accepted. A question as to some unstamped tickets which had been issued by the iotalisator was brought up, and the stewards resolved that although they had no authority over the matter still, in their opinion, the tickets ought to be paid, as the holders were well known, and there was no question of bona fides. The attention of the totalisator proprietors is to be called to the delay there was in taking cash at the outside machine. The consideration of plans and specifications for the alterations to the course and buildings, and also the election of a steward in place of the late Mr Pool, were adjourned to the 7th January.
