When the committee appointed to draw up rnlea in connection with the proposed Starr - Bowkett Building Society met it was reported that over 800 shares had been applied for. At the Police Court, before Messrs W. Eoso and H. M. Bios, J.P.’s, a young man named Harry Groves was charged with indecent assault. After heating the evidence of the informant the bench reduced the charge to one of common assault. The defendant pleaded guilty to the lesser charge end wae fined £3. Sergeant Cruiotshank conducted the case for the prosecution and Mr Patterson appeared for the defendant. There was a fair attendance at the leotnce given by Mr W. Sohwiegerhansen, who is cycling round the world. Mr . Campbell Thomson occupied the chair. Dating an interval the lecturer exhibited a number of photographs taken during his travels. The verdict of the jury was that the deceased died from the effeeta of a bullet wound in the forehead, eelf-inflioted while Buffering , from temporary insanity.
