By Telebraph—Speoial to Herald. Wellinciton, Monday. The annual Art Exhibition, which is now opon, is the beat held herd for some years. Several Sydney artists have pictures on the walls, and the Connteac of Ranforly is also a prominent exhibitor. The tender for the South African steam service hae been signed by Messrs Kimey, Barnes and Co, of Christchurch on boh ilf of the New Zealand and South African Steamship Company, and the deposit of £3OOO has been paid. It is stated that the eervioe will bo started almost immediately. The steamer Westrolia, which sailed forWydoey on Saturday, had a considerable cargo of New Zealand produce, including 4280 sacks of potatoes. In the current issue of the “ Laber Jourral ” employers are notified that the Department cf Labor ia prepared to supply all classes of labor on application to the 161 agents of the department in various centres and towns of the colony.
