DINNER HOUR SERVICES.
Every Wednesday a dinner hour service lasting just twenty minutes, is held at Bishopgate Chapel, and ■ o po: ular lias it become that there is occasionally an active competition for [daces. The service is described as ‘ Brief, Bright, and Brotherly.’ and it fully ju-tilh ? its description. It h-.s been held continuously for s is wars, and ih-re arc many in the present congregation who have been constant in t'u-.r attendance fr.ni the tir.-t. Ihe ideals tote carried further by the inauguration ■>f similar services elsewhere. When n.it,liters -it [ 'ore the apathy ,f j, ■ on rciigi. :.s subjects it would be well it t‘.( y were to inquire whether the fault is not rather with the service than with the pcipie. It is evident from the fact that so large a number can be inpuced to give up their brief 1,-isure in the middle of a working ti.vv to devotion, that there is no such great indifference on such great mnt'ors as is assumed, and th t giver, an attractive, intellectual service, there will be no ground for complaint tor the paucity of the congregation.
