COMMITTEE MEETING,

A meeting of tho autumn show programme committee of tho Agricultural and Pastoral Society was held yestorday morning at Messrs Williams and Kettle’s otiices, Hastings. Present—Messrs K. Wellwood, W, H. Smith, K. D. Colliaoo, and W. Bridgman. In tho absence of tho president (Mr J. H. Williams), through illness, Mr Wollwood was voted to tho chair.

The programme previously compiled was placed before the meeting, and the committee proceeded to allocate the prize money to the various classes. The society’s prize money will amount to over -£2OO, and already between ,£3O ami £lO special prizes have been offered, and it is anticipated that this will be largely increased before the programme is issued next month.

Considerable time has been spent on the programme, and it should prove attractive for all sections, of exhibitors. Briefly the classes are us follows Fat stock (cattle), -1 classes; pigs, 3 ; sheep, 21; cheese and butter, 12; honey preserves, &0., 11; bread and scones, 8; dressed poultry and eggs, 7; hams and bacon, S; fruit and vegetables, 31). Agricultural produce: Farmers’grain, 15; merchants’ grain, 15; farmers’ seeds, 19; merchants’ seeds, 10; roots, 15; sheaf exhibits, 8; chickens, 31; floral pots, chrysanthemums, 40., 20 In addition to the above the society have set apart classes for collections of kitchen and pantry housewifery, all articles for which are to be made by the exhibitor or a member of the family. Collection of farm produce, grain, seeds, roots, ohoese. butter, bacon, 4c, grown and made by exhibitor. Prizes will also be offered for the best three acres drilled field turnips, and for the best throe acres drilled field inangolds. Tbo show will be hold at the Society’s grounds, Hastings, during tlie last week in April next, and it is proposod to include some of the afternoon events of tbo spring show week, such as hunters’ and leaping competitions, Lloyd-Lindsay competition, wood-chopping, 40.
