TASMANIAN POLITICS

Hobart, Thursday. In the Legislative Assembly Mr Patterson moved the adjournment of the House to complain of the appointment of Mr Hudson as general manager of railways. He considered the appointment of a New Zealander an injustice to the local claimant for the position. After a lengthy discussion, in which the majority of the speakers condemned the appointment, the motion was withdrawn by Mr Patterson, but he subsequently moved that the action cf the Government in over-looking the claims of Mr M'Cormaek as general manager did not meet with the approval of the House. Ministers accepted this as a motion of wsnt-of-confidence, and the House adjourned till to-morrow.
