[IBOM OUB OWN OOBBBSPONDBNT.] July 19, 1900. The nenal bi-monthly sitting of the Magistrate's Court was held to-day before Mr A. Turnbull, S.M. There were no civil oases. Two applications for old age pensions were adjourned to 2nd August. The following oriminal charges were dealt with:— o. Trioklebank, sen., appeared to answer a charge of being drank and disorderly in a railway carriage at Waipukurau on 4th July. Convicted and discharged on payment of costs 139, wit-nesses'-expenees 21s 6d. Time allowed for payment! He was also charged with doing wilful damage to two doors in a carriage to the value of £5. Convioted and fined XI, and ordered to pay the amount of damage, £i 19s. On a further charge for unlawfully assaulting Jesse Stone, the railway guard in oharge of the train he was convicted and fined 10s. Mr E..H. T.ee appeared for the defence and Sergeant Smart prosecuted. Robert Stowers was charged with neglecting to bur; the carcase of a cow on the Gorge road. Fined ss, with costs 9s, witness 4s, cost of removal 13s 6d, or in default to be imprisoned for a week in Wanganui gaol. John Brinson was oharged with allowing his horse to stray on the railway line, where it got killed. Defendant stated that he was not 20 feet behind it when killed, and was not aware the train was so near. Fined Is, costs 9s, one witness 10b. The fine was paid. . The Waipawa Racing Club had a committee meeting last night. Mr Harker presided. Captain Howard donated £2 2s to the club, and stated that he wonld be unable to again act as clerk of totalisator. He received a vote of thanks. — In consequence of the Canterbury Jockey Club altering the dates of their meeting, it was decided that instead of the summer meeting being held* on 30th and 31st Ootober, it be altered to 26th and 27th September, and that the olub apply to the Racing Conference to sanction the alteration,—The programme to be drawn up and submitted to the annual meeting, to be held at tbe end of July.— Mr M. Collett was admitted a member.
