Eccoived July 19, 10 a.m. London, July 18. The Congregational Committee unanimously selected the Eev. John Wilkins, o£ the Old Kent Eoad Church, Marlborough, to succeed the Bey. Joseph Parker at Auckland. Mr Wilkins has taken a month to consider the call, but will probably accept it. At a week's conference of the Christian Endeavor Union, held in London 20,000 delegates were present, among them being 6000 from America and Australia. The Key. C. M. Sheldon, of America, was also present. The Bishop of London was among those who bade the delegates welcome, Sydney, Thursday. The Wharves Resumption Bill has passed the Legislative Assembly. Hobart, Thursday. The Financial Statement shows the revenue to be .£943,000, expenditure £871,000. The estimated surplus for the ourrent year is .£11,300. The revenue is estimated at upwards of a million (subject to a reduction of £20,000 for the Federal Government), and the expenditure at £973,000. Perth, Thursday. Four boys set fire to a barrel of gun. powder at Kalgoorlie. Two o£ the number, named Davey and James, were killed outright. The others were seriously injured.
