APPEAL COURT.
(BY TELEGRAPH,) Wellington, Friday. In the Appeal Court) nn application by the Wellington Law Society against Charles Cooke, solicitor, Wanpannl, was called on. In this oase the solicitor was obarged by the Law Soolety with mlaappropriating £426 and £1, paid to him for stamp duty and registration on a cer« tain transfer and mortgage, and with making falsa statements to oonoeal the fact that he had failed to stamp and register the documents. The Chief Juatloe oonaldered the charges established, and was of oplDlon that the solicitor ! shonld be suspended irLm practice for a period of blx months. His Honor, there* fore, reserved the caso for the considerstion of the Court of Appeal, which now oonfirmed the decision of the Chief JastloH. The suspension dates from the 22ud April. Mr Richmond appeared for the Law Soolety. Mr Cooke did not appear, and was not represented. The Court adjourned till Monday, when the oaie of Eilla and Batger will be called on for further argument on one point.
