Melbourne, Saturday, The fire on the steamer Orient la assnmlng a serious aspect. ' The bunker ' where the outbreak ocourred Is leaking, and 1b unable to hold Fufficlent water to quench the fire. It is feared the walla of the banker will oraok', and let the fire spread beyond oantrol,
! (Recolved Augnst 10, 8 p.m.) The fire on the Orient has been practically extiagnisbed without spreading. (Rocolvocl August 12, 12.50 a.m.) Sunday. The fire on' the Orient was soon subdued after the door between the watertight compartment, which had been left) open and allowed the water to escape, was closed by a diver. Most of the cargo in the forehold was destroyed and tbe internal fittln&B of the steamer much damaged.
